ACIK is proud to welcome Azurite Group, a new associate emerging as a leader in the logistics sector with an operational network connecting Europe, Central Asia, and China via the Middle Corridor. Founded in 2015 in Almaty, Kazakhstan, Azurite stands out for its ability to offer integrated logistics solutions, backed by robust infrastructure and a presence in 12 offices across 8 countries. This article explores Azurite's history, operations, and ambitions, with a particular focus on Italy and Kazakhstan.

Company History and Profile

Azurite Group began as a local initiative in Kazakhstan, rapidly evolving into a regionally significant logistics network. Headquartered in Almaty, the company has built a strong reputation through its expertise in road and rail transport. Azurite is the primary logistics partner for KAZ Minerals, serving mines such as Aktogay and Bozshakol with an impressive fleet: over 1,000 rail wagons, 26 locomotives (10 of which are owned), and a team of 260 rail specialists. In 2024, the company handled an average annual volume of 2.2 million tons, shipping 8,000 containers and moving 40,000 wagons over 18 months, supported by 450 multimodal containers and 140 operational trucks.

Azurite excels in multimodal logistics, combining trains, trucks, and ships to ensure door-to-door deliveries between Europe and Central Asia with transit times of 32 to 38 days along the Middle Corridor. The fleet includes 45 foot containers, 33 pallet spaces, swap-body trailers, and locomotives, supported by advanced wagon maintenance services and railway tariff payments. Operations extend to six loading depots in Istanbul, Hopa, Mersin, Ratingen, Padborg, and Burgas, including customs clearance, locomotive rental, and terminal management. Azurite has developed five established routes with strategic transshipment points in Aktau and Baku, facilitating efficient crossings of the Caspian Sea.

Kazakhstan is the operational heart of Azurite, thanks to its strategic location and growing importance as a trade corridor between China and Europe. The company anticipates growth in FMCG, already working with clients in this sector, particularly in Uzbekistan, where significant expansion has occurred over the past 12 months. Azurite positions itself as a heavy-asset logistics operator, attracting international investors through tax- and customs-advantaged economic zones. Its network of offices in Kazakhstan (Almaty, Astana, Aktau, and Ust-Kamenogorsk) ensures full supply chain control.

Expansion in Italy and Future Vision with ACIK

Entering the Italian market marks a strategic step for Azurite, driven by significant cargo flows from Italy to Central Asia. The opening of a Milan office reflects interest in specialized machinery for metallurgy, mining, oil & gas, and agriculture, sectors where Italian SMEs lead. Via Turkey, using Trieste as the main hub, Azurite offers reliable multimodal solutions, deliberately avoiding Russian and Belarusian corridors in favor of the Middle Corridor. Collaboration with ACIK aims to increase visibility in Italy and forge connections with companies like Maire Tecnimont and Ansaldo, which are active in Almaty.

Azurite plans to expand its services by adding new routes from countries such as Scandinavia, Benelux, Germany, and Poland, while maintaining top standards for delivery times and price guarantees. With offices in Bulgaria, Romania, Georgia, Turkey, Azerbaijan, and beyond, the company controls the entire logistics chain with maximum transparency. Association with ACIK provides an opportunity to strengthen its Italian presence through events, social media, and a contact database, helping Azurite connect with Italian companies and promote bilateral trade.
