Luca Attanasio, Italian Ambassador to the Democratic Republic of the Congo, was killed in an armed attack by unknown assailants

The Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) confirmed the death of the diplomat.  Luca Attanasio was reportedly killed during a visit to the eastern part of the country while traveling in a convoy of World Food Program (WFP) vehicles. "The Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirms with deep pain the death of Italian Ambassador to the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Luca Attanasio, and a soldier of the Carabinieri corps in Goma today," the statement said. The diplomat died in hospital from his wounds.

According to a new decree by the city's chief sanitary doctor: shopping centers will be closed on weekends. Working hours on weekdays will be reduced to 20:00. The death penalty was abolished in Kazakhstan also thanks to the dialogue with Italy

Kazakhstan officially abolished the death penalty on January 2, 2021. This was done by the signing by Qasym-Jomart Toqayev, head of State, of the law on the ratification of the Second Optional Protocol to the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, which obliges the participating States.
