Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Olzhas Bektenov met with the leadership of Italian companies, major equipment manufacturers in the energy and petrochemical sectors, to discuss the implementation of agreements and memorandums signed during the Kazakhstan-Italy roundtable in Rome in January this year, which was attended by the President of Kazakhstan.  

Meeting with Ansaldo Energia

During discussions with Fabrizio Fabbri, CEO of Ansaldo Energia, measures to enhance the efficiency of Kazakhstan’s energy infrastructure through innovative technologies were explored. The Italian company’s expertise in the development of gas and steam turbines was highlighted as a promising area. Under a previously signed agreement, two gas turbines will be manufactured for Almaty CHPP-3. Both parties expressed interest in mutually beneficial cooperation, focusing on localizing components for gas turbine installations in Kazakhstan. This initiative would enable the domestic production of various components for gas turbine power generators, establishing high-tech supply chains in the energy equipment sector.  

Meeting with Maire Tecnimont

Discussions with Alessandro Bernini, President of Maire Tecnimont, centered on collaboration in advanced hydrocarbon processing and increasing the production of high-quality, competitive, and value-added products. Kazakhstan is currently implementing large-scale projects to construct plants for the production of polymers and other key products in demand on global markets. Maire Tecnimont is interested in participating in investment projects involving the production of polyethylene, butadiene, sustainable aviation fuel, and the construction of a gas separation complex. Notably, the partnership on sustainable aviation fuel projects could significantly contribute to the development of green technologies in Kazakhstan’s aviation sector. This fuel production is expected to reduce carbon emissions, enhance the environmental safety of flights, and strengthen Kazakhstan’s position in the global market for eco-friendly technologies.  

Prime Minister, Olzhas Bektenov, emphasized the importance of large-scale infrastructure initiatives aimed at diversifying and restructuring the economy with a focus on processing industries. He reaffirmed the Government’s readiness to support foreign investors at all stages of joint project implementation.
