Italian rider moved to Astana Qazaqstan Team

Gianmarco Garofoli moved to Astana Qazaqstan Team after a season spent in the continental team.

The 20-year-old Italian driver, who spent several races with the Kazakh World Tour team at the end of 2022, signed a two-year deal with the Astana Qazaqstan Team as a neo-professional (for 2023 and 2024).

“I’m really happy to sign this contract, which makes my dreams come true. Last season 2022 was a real test for me and I’m very grateful to the team for believing in me and giving me the chance to be on the World Tour. I’m super motivated to start the season as the best way to fully justify the confidence of the team,” said Gianmarco Garofoli.

Gianmarco Garofoli is a young rider who had a very successful season in 2021 when he won one of the stages and finished second overall in the Giro Valle d’Aosta. But his performances in the 2022 season have been greatly impacted by COVID and the effects of the disease. Nevertheless, at the end of the season, Garofoli managed to perform in several races in the Astana Qazaqstan Team – Veneto Classic and Giro del Veneto, where he supported Miguel Angel Lopez, who finished the race in 4th place.
