New regions will be formed in Kazakhstan

The President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, in his today’s Address, proposed a number of changes to form new regions in the country.

Thus, it was proposed to divide the Almaty region into two regions: Taldykorgan will become the center of the Zhetysu region, and Kapshagay will become the center of the Almaty region.

In addition, the Abai region will appear in Kazakhstan with the center in the city of Semey, and the Ulytau region will be formed on the territory of the former Zhezkazgan region.  The city of Zhezkazgan will again become a regional center.

Also, the President of Kazakhstan proposed to ban akims from holding positions in the branches of parties.  According to the Head of State, such decisions will make it possible to form a multipolar party system in the country.
